Incredibile. La pellicola meno quotata è riuscita nell'impresa di vincere il Producers Guild Award, da tutti considerato l'anticamera dell'Oscar per la categoria di Miglior Film, essendo il premio assegnato dal sindacato americano dei produttori cinematografici.
Che dire, a questo punto? Che mai come quest'anno la lotta per il titolo di Best Picture 2006 agli Academy Awards sarà clamorosamente imprevedibile, dato che tutti e cinque i film nominati ai PGA Awards partono più o meno dallo stesso punto di partenza...
Per saperne di più, rimando al bellissimo articolo di Tom O'Neil del Los Angeles Times di cui riporto un interessantissimo estratto: "Or perhaps the reason "Little Miss Sunshine" won was because it was a producer's ultimate dream come true — offering a bonanza return on investment. Produced for only $8 million, "Sunshine" burned up $58 million in ticket sales domestically, plus $27 million overseas. "The Crying Game' was a similar indie behometh back in 1992, beating "Unforgiven" and "A Few Good Men" for the best-picture prize at the producers' guild, which didn't have any TV members back then. "Crying Game" later lost at the Oscars, however. Is that a bad omen for "Sunshine"?"
