DGA e PGA

Non sono due strane malattie infettive, ma gli acronimi di Directors Guild of America e Producers Guild of America, che, avendo da poco assegnato i loro riconoscimenti 2008, non hanno fatto altro che decretare in sostanza il favoritissimo agli Oscar che verranno assegnati tra tre settimane: Non è un paese per vecchi (No Country for Old Men) dei fratelli Coen, che quest'anno si è appunto aggiudicato sia il DGA Award che il PGA Award. E ai prossimi WGA Awards (Writers Guild of America) potrebbe arrivare la tripletta...
Poco importa che il film agli ultimi Golden Globes sia stato poco considerato: ora Ethan e Joel Coen potrebbero finalmente conquistare le statuette più ambite dopo quella vinta nel 1997 con Fargo in qualità di sceneggiatori.
Il film uscirà in Italia il 22 febbraio: ovvio che si debba correre a vederlo...

Screen Actors Guild Awards 2008: i vincitori

Una sola (grossa) sorpresa nei vincitori 2008 di questi Screen Actors Guild Awards: l'affermazione della decana Dee in qualità di supporter. Per il resto, tutto amplissimamente secondo previsione, con Day-Lewis, Christie e Bardem che prenotano l'Oscar, già peraltro vinto dai primi due, dato che hanno bissato la vittoria ottenuta ai Golden Globes.

Golden Globes 2008: i vincitori

In una cornice quanto mai atipica ed asettica, l'Hollywood Foreign Press Association ha annunciato i suoi vincitori; senza clamore, senza glamour, senza gossip e soprattutto senza red carpet. Il tutto si è infatti svolto all'interno di una sbrigativa conferenza stampa a causa dello sciopero del sindacato degli screenwriters, in atto da più di due mesi, che sta continuando a mietere vittime illustri. Per non parlare del fatto che anche gli Oscar sono a rischio...

In ogni caso, qualche rapido commento.
Le sorprese: sicuramente l'affermazione di Espiazione come miglior film drammatico e la vittoria di Schnabel in qualità di miglior regista.
Le conferme: beh, quasi tutte, e devo dire con merito, a cominciare dalla strepitosa Cotillard ne La vie en rose e dalla camaleontica Blanchett in I'm not there.
La gioia: il premio a Dario Marianelli, compositore di casa nostra, per le musiche di Espiazione.
La delusione: incredibile a dirsi, nessuna.

Screen Actors Guild Awards 2008: le nominations

In ritardo di parecchi giorni, pubblico le candidature proposte dal sindacato attori USA per i prossimi SAG Awards, premio attoriale tra i più ambiti oltreoceano e altra cartina al tornasole in previsione Oscar.
Al solito, scelte discutibili (candidato quasi tutto il cast del non particolarmente lodato "Into the wild") ed esclusioni a sorpresa, ma un commento sale spontaneo più di ogni altra edizione: ho la netta sensazione che Hollywood sia a corto, oltre che di idee, anche di nomination degne di questo nome, e si stia fossilizzando sempre di più sugli stessi nomi, a scapito di outsider interessanti o mostri sacri colpevolmente trascurati.
Anche in questo caso, ai posteri l'ardua sentenza...

Golden Globes 2008: le nominations

Qualche minuto fa, a cura dell'Hollywood Foreign Press Association, ente organizzatore del premio, sono state annunciate le nominations ai Golden Globe Awards 2008, da sempre considerati la più attendibile fonte di previsione dei premi Oscar.
Poche sorprese (l'esclusione di The Savages è sicuramente inaspettata) e soprattutto pochi titoli che sembrano realmente degni di tali riconoscimenti (era poi il caso di nominare ben sette film in qualità di miglior pellicola drammatica?).
